I spent a lot of time at the library where my Mom was a librarian. I learned to read at a very young age and from the time I was allowed to sit in the Children's Reading section by myself and read a book, I began my exploration of stories and subjects that were interesting. Sometimes the people at the library were just as interesting if not more so and I would put my book down on my knee and lean on the other and stare, for hours. What were they all doing at the library? What kinds of books were they all reading? The only time I talked to any of them was when I asked them about a book in their hands.

When I wasn't at the library I was going door to door in my neighborhood with a petition in one hand and a change box in the other saving whales or seals or our forests. I wanted to help our world be happy, and I wanted all creatures to have a wonderful safe environment to live in. Maybe I watched too many Disney movies or maybe I was just born a dreamer.

In 2010 I wrote a Children's Book called "The Pool is Cool" while traveling on a long flight to Europe. The book was inspired by a little boy in a swimming lesson class I was teaching who arrived his first day with tears streaming down his face and screaming. He was inconsolable. I couldn't imagine that level of fear of something you hadn't even experienced yet. His fear had already defeated him. I wanted to do something. So I wrote a book. It's my contribution to scared children sitting on pool edges worried their lives will be ending if they jump in (do it kid, come on, the pool is cool it's not scary unless you think it is... jump in!).

My short stories and my articles are written as my therapy. I hope they provoke thought, or some kind of positive vibe that makes your toes twitch just a little.
